Greg is a thoughtful and energetic problem solver who enjoys the challenge of finding alternative solutions for his clients.

For more than 25 years, Greg has been counseling his clients in the areas of public finance, real estate law, and the review and drafting of contracts and leases.

In his public finance practice, Greg has served as bond, issuer’s, disclosure, and underwriters’ counsel on bond financings for public and private educational institutions, hospital and healthcare facilities, finance authorities, and state and local governmental entities. This experience includes drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and preparing for final execution numerous documents related to tax-exempt and taxable bond issuances. He advises clients on optimal tax structures and assist with applicable tax laws and compliance matters.

Greg’s real estate experience focuses on the drafting and negotiating of contracts which can include sale, acquisition, finance, development and/or leasing of residential and commercial properties. His clients include both buyers and sellers, for whom he prepares and reviews title documents, deeds, and transfer documents.

Prior to working in the legal field, Greg was a project manager for the State of Indiana, Department of Commerce, where he was responsible for attracting new industries to Indiana. He helped them find property to build their facilities and provided tax incentives from the State of Indiana to entice them to come to the state. It was there he gained critical experience with government entities like the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program and the U.S. Small Business Administration and other certifying agencies. He uses this experience when helping clients obtain certifications as a minority-owned, woman-owned, small business-owned, veteran-owned or disadvantaged business enterprise.

In 2008, Greg was elected to represent Indiana Senate District 33, and still holds the position in 2022. He is the current Leader of the Indiana Senate Democrat Caucus, the first person of color to hold that position, and serves the Courts and Criminal Code Committee, Judiciary Committee, Public Policy Committee, Local Government Committee.

He also serves on several non-profit boards and provides pro bono legal services to the Indianapolis chapter of AMVETS.
